SELINSGROVE, PA - After a satisfying start to their season with Week 1's 41-7 Friday-night win over Bridgewater, #11 Susquehanna turns its attention to a formidable foe Saturday, hosting Brockport at 1 p.m. The River Hawks escaped the cold, rainy conditions of Brockport last year by the narrowest of margins in a 6-5 victory for both teams' first-ever matchup. The two squads look to offer more explosiveness this year in Selinsgrove, with the Golden Eagles claiming a 27-0 shutout win in their opener last week against Buffalo State, while Susquehanna looks to keep pace after offering up 617 yards of total offense last week, the fourth-most yardage in team history.
The maroon and orange got plenty of praise this week when linebacker
Garrett Carter and first-year running back
Rahshan La Mons earned the Landmark Conference's Players of the Week on defense and offense, respectively. Carter led the team in tackles with eight, garnering 2.5 tackles for loss and one sack, while La Mons burst onto the scene with three touchdowns and 212 total yards split between 123 rushing yards on nine carries and 99 receiving yards on three catches. His first career touchdown came on an 86-yard screen pass to give SU a 14-0 lead, thanks in part to great downfield blocking that broke him loose for the third-longest passing completion in school history. He followed this up with two touchdowns on the ground, the first a 22-yard run and the next a bruising five-yard run, along with breaking off a 61-yard run. The next piece of good news came just hours later as the AFCA and D3football.com both deemed Susquehanna worthy of moving up one spot to 11th In their respective Top 25 national polls.

HISTORY MADE IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE WITH 2024 DEBUT WIN
Susquehanna's 41-7 win over Bridgewater last Friday coincided with the university welcoming in six new members to SU Football's Ring of Honor, including Captain George Kirk (Class of 1917), John Vignone (Class of 1965), Jeff Goria (Class of 1971), Ken Vermillion (Class of 1971), Thomas Shoemaker (Class of 1987), and the 2009 Liberty League championship team. On the field, Susquehanna inched closer to an incredible milestone with the program's 494th all-time win and extending their school-record consecutive regular-season win streak to 22. Tenth-year head coach
Tom Perkovich upped his career wins total to 62, second most in school history.
SUSQUEHANNA SHUTS DOWN BRIDGEWATER'S OFFENSE IN 41-7 WIN
The River Hawks defense, led by new defensive coordinator
Tim Kologrivov, pitched a shutout against the Eagles' offense, forcing four turnovers, including one interception by Steve Williams III in the endzone that fended off Bridgewater in its lone red-zone appearance. Two more interceptions followed in the fourth quarter, coming from linebacker
Drew Robinson and the next by lineman
Jake Schultes, who batted a pass up in the air at the line and hauled it in at the 21 yard line, setting up the team's last score. With Bridgewater marching deep in Susquehanna territory, running back Freddie Watkins ran the ball inside the 20, but was stripped of the ball by
Dominic Winn and recovered by
Jake Schultes. Bridgewater's lone touchdown was a 96-yard kick return by Brendan Robinson to make the score 14-7 in the second quarter.
Rookie back
Rahshan La Mons' three touchdowns accounted for Susquehanna's second, third, and sixth touchdowns on the evening. Quarterback
Josh Ehrlich scored the first points of the River Hawks' season with a five-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter. Ahead 21-7 late in the first half, Ehrlich found receiver
Chris Bookter on a quick slant to convert a third down, only for Bookter to parlay it into a 40-yard reception to increase the lead to 28-7 at halftime. Wide receiver and reigning Landmark Conference Offensive Player of the Year
Kyle Howes added to SU's lead in the fourth quarter when Ehrlich found him in the back of the endzone to deliver an 18-yard strike. Kicker
Christian Colasurdo connected on 5-of-6 extra point attempts, along with making his debut as the team's starting punter as well, booting a pair up in the air that totaled 73 yards, including a long of 40.
