Women Head to Scranton for Landmark Semifinals Wednesday; Tickets Available for Purchase

SELINSGROVE, PA - Susquehanna women's soccer won a thriller at Elizabethtown on Saturday in penalty kicks 4-2 to advance to the Landmark Conference Semifinals for the first time since 2022 Wednesday at Scranton. The match kicks off at 7 p.m. 

HOW WE GOT HERE:
  • The River Hawks played a full 90 minutes, staying deadlocked nil-nil with Elizabethtown College in the opening round.
  • Heading into the first ten minute overtime period, the team's traded blows, with both teams earning opportunities to win the game, and advance to the semifinals.
  • Neither team found the back of the net in the first overtime period, so the game continued into yet another ten minute period. 
  • Once again, both teams earned opportunities to win, with neither finding the back of the net.
  • Heading into penalty kicks to determine a winner, SU tallied the first shot, scoring from the right leg of Morgan Stickley.
  • Elizabethtown tied up the pk session at one all after a ball barely scraped past the outstretched arm of goalkeeper, Katie Henchy.
  • Ava Billmeyer tallied the second goal for the River Hawks in pk's, before Elizabethtown earned their second score of the contest.
  • The third shot belonged to Chloe Michaels, who buried a shot behind Blue Jays goalkeeper, Ella Smith.
  • Blue Jays', Ashley Rosati looked to tie up the penalty kicks, but soared the ball over the net, opening the door for the River Hawks.
  • Sydney Williams took a shot, scoring, and giving the River Hawks a 4-2 lead in penalty kicks.
  • The Blue Jays were down to their final chance, having to score to extend the game. 
  • Audra Day stepped up to the ball, taking a shot to the left of Henchy, were the SU goalkeeper made a sprawling save, winning the game for the River Hawks.
  • SU advanced to the semifinals to face one seeded The University of Scranton on Wednesday, November 5.
