SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Susquehanna University women's soccer standouts
Katie Henchy and
Amelia Kopp have been named the Landmark Conference Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively, following their performances in the River Hawks' matches against Wilkes University and Drew University.
Henchy anchored the Susquehanna defense in a 2-1 comeback victory over Wilkes on Wednesday, Oct. 7, before turning in another strong performance in Saturday's 1-1 draw against Drew. Kopp powered the River Hawks' attack, scoring three goals across the two contests to earn Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Kopp delivered a standout performance against Wilkes, scoring both of Susquehanna's second-half goals to lead the River Hawks to a comeback conference victory. After Wilkes took an early 1-0 lead, Kopp equalized in the 52nd minute off an assist from
Liv Baczor before finding the back of the net again less than six minutes later. Her second goal, assisted by
Olivia St. Amand and Baczor, proved to be the game-winner. Kopp finished with four shots, all on target, while also recording an assist on
Ava Billmeyer's equalizing goal.
The forward continued her scoring run against Drew, finding the net in the 12th minute off an assist from Billmeyer to give Susquehanna an early advantage. The goal marked Kopp's seventh of the season, tying her for the Landmark Conference lead at the time of the match. She has continued to be a key presence in the River Hawks' attack, creating scoring opportunities and delivering in crucial moments.
Henchy was equally impactful between the posts, helping Susquehanna secure four important points across the two conference matches. Against Wilkes, the goalkeeper recorded six saves while playing all 90 minutes, keeping the River Hawks within striking distance before the team's second-half comeback. She followed that performance with seven saves against Drew, making several key stops as Susquehanna held its lead deep into the second half before the Rangers found a late equalizer.
Across the two matches, Henchy totaled 13 saves, providing a steady presence in goal against two Landmark Conference opponents. Her performances helped the River Hawks earn a conference victory and a draw while continuing to compete for positioning in the league standings.
Susquehanna returns to action Wednesday, Oct. 14, when the River Hawks host Juniata College at 7 p.m. at Sassafras Multipurpose Field.
