SELINSGROVE, PA - Men's basketball earned the second spot in the Landmark Conference Preseason Poll, as voted on by the conference coaches. After wrapping up the 2024-25 season with a 15-12 overall record, and advancing to the Conference Semifinals last season, the River Hawks look to prepare for a Landmark Championship run this year. Showcasing a roster full of new and returning players, all sides of the ball increase their contributions heading into the 2025-26 season.
Head coach
Frank Marcinek returns to Susquehanna for his 37th year at the helm of the men's basketball team. Marcinek boasts being the winningnest coach in Susquehanna men's basketball history. Showcasing a 527-376 regular season record, Marcinek sits atop the record books for wins in the program's rich history. Under the supervision of Marcinek, the River Hawks have claimed two Landmark banners, and have advanced to the NCAA playoffs three times since the 2016-17 season. Marcinek advanced his team to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament in the 2016-17 season, becoming the first head coach to accomplish this feat.Â
The River Hawks return big playmaker to the court, in the likes of
Brandon Lavitt and
Billy Anderson. Both players return to SU for their final season in the orange and maroon. Lavitt looks to cement his name in the record books, being just 104 points away from the 1,000 point club. Lavitt topped off his junior season, edging closer to the elusive club, scoring a total of  259 points last season.
Billy Anderson became the sole men's basketball player to earn Landmark Honors last season, taking a Second-Team All-Landmark Honors spot. The star center for SU, Anderson, aims to continue his dominance on the boards and continues to light up the scoring as he too, just like Lavitt, enters the 1,000 point club territory. Anderson sits with 817 career points, being one of two current River Hawks to have more than 800 career points heading into the 2025-26 season.
Jackson Van Wagener and
Audric Washington became pivotal parts of the SU basketball team last season, setting career numbers in points scored last year. Van Wagener netted a total of 198 points last season, including a career high 18 points scored three separate times last year. Washington helped to lead the River Hawks in points scored and rebounds taken. Washington snagged a total of 60 rebounds last season, and scored a total of 164 points.
Heading into the 2025-26 with nothing short of high aspirations, the River Hawks aim to improve their placement in the Landmark Conference playoffs, aiming to take the top spot away from 2024-25 Landmark Champion Drew University. With hopes of reclaiming the coveted Landmark Trophy, Susquehanna looks ahead to a season filled with competitive match ups.Â
