SELINSGROVE, PA - The Susquehanna University football team earned six honorees to D3football.com's All-Region 2 Team, led by two First Team picks in defensive end
Galen Limantour and kicker
Dominic Bourgeois, with Limantour also chosen as the region's Defensive Player of the Year. Cornerback
Xavier Maple received Second Team accords, while the offensive tandem of quarterback
Josh Ehrlich and running back
Rahshan La Mons earned Third Team honors, as well as linebacker
Jesse Ruisch.
All six have helped guide the River Hawks into Saturday's NCAA Elite Eight matchup against Johns Hopkins, which kicks off Saturday at 12 noon from JHU's Homewood Field. Susquehanna reached its fourth straight NCAA Tournament appearance following its third straight 6-0 Landmark Conference record and an 11-2 overall mark. They began their postseason endeavors hosting Washington & Jefferson in the First Round, beating the Presidents by a 38-32 score. They went on to settle a score the following Saturday at Christopher Newport, who handed the River Hawks a defeat during the regular season, by avenging the Captains 42-28. Ehrlich combined for five touchdowns, including a career-high three rushing TDs, while La Mons picked up the team's sixth and final touchdown of the day to seal the win. Limantour posted three sacks in both games as he now has 13.5 sacks this season. It was then on to Eastern last Saturday in the NCAA Sweet 16 as the defense put on a clinic to shut out the Eagles, 29-0, for their second shutout of the year. Bourgeois tallied the team's first six points on the day with a pair of field goals, including a career-high 45 yarder on his first try. He is now 19-of-19 on the season to lead all NCAA Division III kickers in a record-breaking year for the junior. Maple also had a big day with two turnovers, intercepting a ball in the endzone to ward off an Eastern scoring chance, then taking his second turnover back for a touchdown. Ruisch, meanwhile, has been the key ingredient in Susquehanna's defense, earning a sack against W&J and contributing half a sack against Eastern, while leading the team with 66 total tackles this fall and 39 solo tackles.
GALEN LIMANTOUR: Landmark Conference Defensive Player of the Year and All-Landmark First Team... appeared in 13 games, having 32 solo tackles and 23 assisted tackles for a total of 55 tackles on the season... second all-time at Susquehanna with 13.5 sacks.... collected 21.5 tackles for a loss with ten quarterback hurries... tallied two sacks in one game at Western Connecticut State on Nov. 1, helping the defense pitch a shutout in a 34-0 win... had 1.5 sacks at Christopher Newport on Sept. 27... combined for 7.5 sacks over the River Hawks' first three NCAA playoff games, including three in back-to-back games against Washington & Jefferson in the first round and Christopher Newport in the second round... added 1.5 sacks in the third-round game against Eastern to help Susquehanna post its second shutout of the season in a 29-0 victory.
DOMINIC BOURGEOIS: Fred Mitchell Award Semifinalist, All-Landmark First Team selection, six-time Landmark Specialist, two-time D3football.com Team of the Week at kicker... set the school record for field goals in one season at 19-of-19, surpassing the previous mark of 12 set by three other SU kickers... went 4-for-4 in two different games, first in the season opener against Union on Sept. 6 in a 33-14 win, then again against Wilkes on Nov. 8 in a 26-3 victory... named Landmark Conference Specialist of the Week a staggering six times and D3football.com Team of the Week at kicker twice... made a pair of 42-yard field goals to set a regular-season best, first against Union and the other against Catholic... led all kickers in NCAA Division III in made field goals at end of regular season... added three more field goals during the postseason, beginning with one against Washington & Jefferson and two more against Eastern in the third round to give Susquehanna its first six points of the day, including a career-high 45 yarder on his first try.
XAVIER MAPLE: Appeared in ten games... totaled 18 tackles on the season with 16 solo tackles and four interceptions, his first two coming against Lycoming in a 69-7 victory on Oct. 11... contributed nine pass breakups, including three in the playoff game against Washington & Jefferson, then two each against Catholic and two against Moravian... set a season high with three tackles, all solo, at Moravian in the regular season finale on Nov. 15 in a 48-7 victory, then bested that totaling four in the opening-round playoff game against Washington & Jefferson, where he got his third pick of the season... blocked a field goal at the end of the first half against W&J, which was returned by
Romero Lavalais Jr. for a touchdown to give SU a 21-20 lead at halftime... followed this up with another big game against Eastern in the NCAA Third Round, intercepting a pass in the endzone, then forcing a turnover and returning it back for a touchdown for the final points in a 29-0 victory, Susquehanna's second shutout of the season.
JOSH EHRLICH: Landmark Offensive Player of the Year, All-Landmark First Team, Team Captain... Started and played in all 13 games.... had 225 completions on 327 passes this season and 2,670 passing yards with 32 passing touchdowns against just one interception... ran for 773 yards with seven rushing touchdowns on 149 carries... twice named Landmark Offensive Athlete of the Week, the first following the team's 69-7 win over Lycoming on Oct. 11, completing 25-of-32 passes for 279 yards with three passing touchdowns, while rushing for one touchdown, netting 53 yards on ten rushes... earned Landmark weekly accords again after SU's 34-0 win at Western Connecticut State on Nov. 1, completing 20-of-27 passes for 237 yards with three touchdown tosses, while recording a 100-yard rushing game with 110 yards on 19 carries with one touchdown... threw for a season-high 313 yards and five touchdown passes at Juniata on Oct. 18 in a 56-7 victory, completing 24-of-28... also threw for five touchdowns the following week against Catholic in a 69-13 win, completing 17-of-19 passes for 294 yards... combined for seven passing touchdowns in the team's first three NCAA playoff games with three against Washington & Jefferson and two each against Christopher Newport and Eastern... had a virtuoso performance against CNU in the NCAA Second Round game with five total touchdowns, including a career-high three rushing TDs, while completing 22-of-29 passes for 250 yards.
RAHSHAN LA MONS: All-Landmark First Team... racked up 854 yards on 172 carries with 13 total touchdowns (11 rushing, two receiving) despite missing the first two games due to injury... celebrated his season debut against third-ranked Johns Hopkins on Sept. 20 with a 100-yard game with 110 on 13 carries with two touchdowns... had a pair of touchdowns in three other games, running for two more against Lycoming in a 69-7 win on Oct. 11, followed by one rushing TD and one receiving against Catholic on Oct. 25 and two more scores on the ground at Moravian on Nov. 15... had two more 100-yard games for three on the year with 101 on ten carries at Juniata on Oct. 18 and 113 on 23 carries at Moravian on Nov. 15... had two touchdowns against Washington & Jefferson in the NCAA First Round game, receiving one and rushing for another as he earned his fourth 100-yard game with 121 yards on 26 carries... added another rushing touchdown in the second round game at Christopher Newport where he generated 81 rudhing yards on 22 touches.
