Men Win Physical Battle over Moravian

SELINSGROVE, PA - Susquehanna men's basketball took care of business against visiting Moravian University on Saturday afternoon, earning an 82-72 victory and extending its win streak to three games.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Mario Castro Sanchez's hot scoring stretch continued early, accounting for five of Susquehanna's first seven points in the game's opening three minutes. The junior finished with a game-high 19 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field.
  • Senior big man Audric Washington supplemented Castro Sanchez's scoring soon after, pouring in six points in just two minutes to give the River Hawks an eight-point lead at the 14:29 mark of the first half. Washington finished with 12 points and three rebounds in only 15 minutes of action.
  • Consistent scoring allowed Susquehanna to build a 16-point cushion and carry a 44-28 advantage into halftime.
  • Senior Emezie Egeonu made his presence felt in the paint after the break, scoring six of his 12 points in the first six minutes of the second half. He also pulled down 13 rebounds to record a double-double.
  • Moravian made a push midway through the second half, cutting the deficit to eight points near the 10-minute mark. The River Hawks responded quickly, though, pushing the lead back to double digits over the next few minutes and putting the game out of reach.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Brandon Lavitt added 14 points, five rebounds, and three assists while leading the team with two steals, complementing the production from Castro Sanchez, Washington, and Egeonu.
  • Susquehanna shot an efficient 55.8% from the field and 36.4% from three-point range, while holding Moravian to 38.2% from the floor and 24.2% from beyond the arc.
  • After the River Hawks took the lead at the 16:53 mark of the first half, there were no lead changes. The River Hawks maintained control the rest of the way.
  • Senior guard Jackson Van Wagener led the team with six assists to go along with seven points.
UP NEXT FOR THE RIVER HAWKS
