SELINSGROVE, PA - Susquehanna University's women's tennis team was picked seventh in the Landmark Conference's Preseason Poll, as voted on by the coaches. Much like their fall season, the River Hawks look to unpack more surprises with nine matches this spring, including seven Landmark contests.
Susquehanna boasted a mainly-new roster in the fall, which paid great dividends as the new talent quickly found their place in the lineup. These efforts helped the River Hawks land a 3-3 overall record, including 1-1 against Landmark competition where they defeated Elizabethtown, 6-1. Other victories included a similar 6-1 score against Penn College, then a 7-0 blanking of McDaniel. Sophomore
Alexa Wanamaker held down the one singles spot with a 2-3 record, and even more impressively joined forces with new doubles partner in first-year
Mackenzie Romig, going 3-2 at one doubles. Romig went 3-3 as the team's three singles player. Fellow first-year
Amelia Maguire went 4-2 in the fall at singles, including 3-2 at four. Another valuable addition was first-year
Kaiya Reisinger, who won all four of her singles matches, including 3-0 at the five spot. She also went 3-0 in doubles matches, including 2-0 at the two spot.
The River Hawks' spring season begins Saturday, Mar. 1 against non-conference DeSales at Williamsport's Central PA Tennis Center. Their first Landmark match is against Moravian on Saturday, Mar. 22.Â
