SELINSGROVE, PA – Day one of the two-day Landmark Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships concluded with strong performances from Susquehanna's women's team, who posted numerous personal records (PRs) and season bests in their pursuit of the podium. The women are tied for second place with 33 points alongside Elizabethtown, trailing day one's leader Moravian, with the Pre-Championship Poll favorites logging 82 points.
In the opening 10,000-meter race, sophomore Sophia Bostwick led the way for the squad, claiming third place with a PR of 40:51.60. Senior Rebekah Jones followed with a PR of 41:48.36 to finish seventh. Fellow senior Sophia Pasquariello turned in a season-best time of 43:31.51, while junior Griane Reed recorded a PR of 45:10.84. Senior Sydney Mitros rounded out the team's effort in the event with her season-best mark of 46:23.57. Bostwick returned to the podium in the pole vault along with teammate and senior Sarah Bower, who led the team with a fourth-place finish of 3.25 meters and attempted the 3.40m bar in hopes of rewriting her own school record. Bostwick finished sixth with her height of 2.95 meters.
In the 100-meter preliminaries, Kelly Loughlin posted a season-best 13.59. The 100-meter hurdles saw seniors Chloe Yoder and Hannah Alderfer advance to the finals, with Yoder clocking 15.21 and Alderfer following closely at 15.32. Sophomore Denica German also logged a season-best time of 17.83. The 1500-meter event featured more standout efforts as sophomore Victoria Urbaez finished seventh with a PR of 4:52.64, while sophomore Gabby Howe recorded a PR of 5:16.83. First-year Sydney Querry added her own PR, crossing the line in 5:37.46. Senior Liza Levin notched a PR of 27.53 in the 200-meter prelims.
In field events, the Hammer Throw saw a trio of sophomores hit personal milestones. Catherine Sirignano placed sixth with a PR of 42.78 meters, while Emma Szabo took eighth with a throw of 42.15 meters. Bella Dauberman also achieved a PR of 39.83 meters. The shot put featured a close contest, as sophomore Keira Carbone earned sixth place with a PR of 11.09 meters, and Dauberman followed just behind in seventh at 11.06 meters. Junior Paulina Biagioni added a PR of her own with a mark of 9.63 meters.
The championship chase continues tomorrow beginning at 11 a.m. with the women's javelin and triple jump.
