SELINSGROVE, PA - Susquehanna men's soccer opened their 2025 campaign on home turf on Friday, taking on Misericordia. Two late first half goals by the Cougars beset the River Hawks, then another Misericordia goal in the second half helped clinch a 3-0 victory for the visitors.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Misericordia tallied the first two shots of the game, finding the target with both, but first-year Finn Kramer kept the two Cougar efforts out.
- The next chance came for Angelo Zografos, picked out by a Khalil McDonald delivery, but his header could only find the side netting.
- The Cougars opened the scoring in the 31st minute, with Max Jamieson finding the back of the net.
- Owen Smith nearly had an instant response, as just 15 seconds after the restart, his shot from distance arrowed towards the top corner, but was kept out by the Misericordia stopper.
- Jamieson turned provider for the second goal, coming off the foot of Jaden Haig in the 41st minute.
- Kramer began the second half with two excellent saves, but was beaten following a goal-line scramble following a corner.
- Marcello Pannone had an effort turned behind for a corner following clever teamwork from himself and McDonald.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Kramer made six saves to start his collegiate career on the right foot.
- The River Hawks were outshot 15-4 on the evening, with three of their shots coming in the first half, and one being on goal.
- Susquehanna earned a pair of corners, while conceding eight.
- The foul battle was split evenly, with both sides committing nine, three in the first half and six in the second half for both teams.
