SELINSGROVE, PA - Susquehanna men's soccer head coach Jermey Payne announced the captains for the 2026 season in seniors Owen Kaar and Henry McElroy, and junior Khalil McDonald.
Kaar, a senior defender from Williamsport, Pa. and played for North Union United. He appeared in 18 games while starting 17 for the River Hawks in 2025, scoring two goals, while finishing the season with eight shots and four points. Kaar has been a regular starter for the River Hawks since his first season in 2023, earning his first career goal and assist in the same game against Elizabethtown that season.
McElroy is a senior forward from Danville, Pa. and played for North Union United. McElroy appeared in 17 games starting six on the season, recorded 12 total shot attempts on the season. In 2024 he tallied one goal and one assist, notching his first career point with an assist in the season opener against Misericordia, then later scoring a goal against Wilkes.
McDonald, a junior midfielder from Independence, Ohio, played for OPFC. HE appeared in 18 games on the season, earning his first collegiate goal against Penn State Harrisburg. McDonald recorded two goals and four points last season, including the game-winner against King's College of Pa. where the River Hawks trailed 3-nil at halftime and rallied for four unanswered.
Coach Payne and his captains are looking to bring some new excitement to this upcoming season looking to build on last year. The team opens the season traveling to Misericordia University on Sept. 1, with the home season opener against York College of Pennsylvania on Sept. 4.
