Stewart Moan has announced the hiring of
Matt Bunting as the River Hawks' new assistant coach. Bunting, a New Jersey product, played lacrosse at Ramapo High School on his way to a Division I career at Wagner College on Staten Island. A gifted defenseman, he will work with the River Hawks on defense and faceoffs.
At Ramapo High School Bunting was a three-sport star for the Raiders between lacrosse, football, and basketball. Competing in the Big North Group III Conference, Bunting was a Second Team All-State and Second Team All-League mention both his junior and senior seasons. His success led him over the Goethals Bridge into Wagner College, where he started all four years and graduated with his degree in Business Management in 2015. In his senior season with the Seahawks he was a team captain and ranked in the top 20 in Division I in takeaways.
After Wagner Bunting began his lacrosse coaching career as the head coach for several club programs, including Tribe Lacrosse Club, Building Blocks Lacrosse, and Mad Dog Lacrosse. He coached high school at his alma mater Ramapo, as well as parochial power Bergen Catholic, while working with Advanced Lacrosse USA as a coach, personal trainer, and consultant.
