GLENSIDE, Pa.- Emezie Egeonu and
KJ Carson both scored season highs on Saturday, combining for 40 points in a tight road loss to Arcadia University, 82-76. Egeonu scored 22 points and grabbed 16 rebounds in just 29 minutes, while Carson's career-high 18 points came on 60% shooting from the field.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ Â
- Â Despite the River Hawks taking the game's initial lead, Arcadia mounted a 20-7 run that lasted around eight minutes, giving the Knights a 25-11 lead at the 9:22 mark in the first half. Jamison Lynam scored eight of the Knights' 20 points during that stretch.Â
- Susquehanna battled back for the remainder of the half, outscoring Arcadia 20-19 and heading into the break down 44-31. Egeonu scored nine of his 22 total points during that stretch, while Audric Washington complemented him with five points of his own.Â
- Both teams came out of the break trading blows. Arcadia opened the second half with an 8-1 run before the River Hawks responded with a run of their own.  Â
- Carson made a layup with 3:45 remaining to bring the deficit down to single digits. The first-year player would score five more points over the next two minutes to cut the deficit further to just six points.
- One last push in the game's final minute from the River Hawks was not enough to complete the non-conference comeback in the team's opening game of the New Year.
Â
INSIDE THE BOX SCOREÂ Â
- Arcadia outshot Susquehanna from the field, from beyond the arc, and from the free-throw line. The Knights shot 52.8% from the field, 29.4% from three-point range, and 77.8% from the free-throw line compared to Susquehanna's 43.1%/11.8%/69.2% splits.
- The River Hawks, despite being outrebounded 17-14 in the first half, dominated the glass in the second half, grabbing 26 rebounds to Arcadia's 13.
- Senior guard Jackson Van Wagener scored 11 points to go along with six rebounds and a team-high five assists in 31 minutes of play.
- Twelve River Hawks saw action in Saturday's game.
