Rhoades Posts Career High Saturday at Moravian

BETHLEHEM, PA - Junior guard Logan Rhoades scored a career-high 15 points on the road against Moravian University on Saturday afternoon, making a game-high three three-pointers. Despite his best-scoring game, coupled with Jackson Van Wagener and Audric Washington netting 14 points, the River Hawks dropped a 77-71 decision to the Greyhounds.

HOW IT WENT DOWN
  • The River Hawks jumped out to an early 11-4 lead through the game's first five minutes. Senior Audric Washington scored eight of the team's 11 points in that initial stretch, including the game's first six points.
  • Moravian responded with a 7-0 run over the next minute-and-a-half before the two teams went back and forth over the next few minutes. Joel Baez gave the Greyhounds their first lead of the game at the 9:52 mark in the half, 19-16.
  • Despite the River Hawks trailing heading into the break, junior guard Logan Rhoades scored eight points over the final ten minutes of the half, including two made three pointers.
  • Senior Brandon Lavitt, who scored seven total points and grabbed eight rebounds, made a layup with :42 remaining to cut Moravian's lead to just six heading into the break, 40-34.
  • Moravian would hold its halftime lead for the remainder of the game, but not before being pushed to the limits from a gritty Susquehanna team that, at one point, brought the deficit down to just three points.
  • Senior guard Jackson Van Wagener scored 11 points and added seven rebounds in the second half alone as he helped the River Hawks attempt a second-half comeback.
  • Junior Seamus Rogers also stood out in the second half, scoring six points on two-made three-pointers.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Despite having nearly 20 more opportunities to score, the River Hawks struggled offensively. Their 28.7% / 19.4% / 61.3% shooting splits served as the difference-maker against Moravian's 45.9% / 24.1% / 63.6% performance.
  • The River Hawks maintained firm control on the glass, grabbing 17 more rebounds than Moravian and scoring 25 points off second-chance opportunities.
  • Washington and Van Wagener each scored 14 points to go along with Rhoades' team-high 15 points. Van Wagener added a team-high nine rebounds and three assists.
  • Mario Castro Sanchez dished out a team-high five assists to go along with nine points scored and seven rebounds in 23 minutes of play. It was Sanchez's second game back coming off an injury.
UP NEXT FOR THE RIVER HAWKS
  • Susquehanna will now aim to snap what has been a three-game losing skid when they travel to Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday to take on Wilkes University.
  • The River Hawks will begin a two-game home stretch after they make the trip on Wednesday.
