Women's Basketball Dominates Lycoming, Advances to 11-1 on the Season

WILLIAMSPORT, PA - Susquehanna women's basketball dominated Lycoming College 90-40 Wednesday night in a Landmark Conference matchup ahead of their trip to the Palestra Sunday against first-place Scranton. Susquehanna (11-1, 4-1 Landmark) pushes their win streak to seven in a row, while pushing their double digit point differential to ten of their eleven wins. 

How it Happened:
  • Julia Roth got the scoring started, intercepting a pass from Carly George to earn the early layup.
  • The River Hawks kept their foot on the gas, netting eight points in comparison to the Warriors five.
  • Susquehanna continued to press, with Maffei, Roth, Pinckert, and George all earning additional points throughout the first frame for SU.
  • Delaney Chilcote made her mark in the first quarter as well, draining a three pointer at the buzzer to give the River Hawks a 28-9 lead entering quarter number two.
  • The River Hawks picked up right where they left off in the second quarter, with the Roth-George connection resulting in two points.
  • Annie Greek broke off on a fast break opportunity, receiving a pass from Julia Roth to earn the easy layup for SU.
  • The River Hawks continued to make shots, with Julia Pinckert hitting a three pointer to end the half, with SU leading Lycoming, 45-24.
  • SU continued to have the hot hand coming out of the break, with Sydney Weyant scoring an early three pointer to extend the River Hawks lead.
  • Carly George scored the next four points for the River Hawks, with two coming at the free throw line.
  • Zoie Maffei added her name to the third quarter box score, drawing a foul and scoring with both free throw opportunities.
  • Greta Servitto scored four points for the River Hawks, with Annie Greek finishing off the third quarter in style with a deep three pointer at the buzzer. 
  • Susquehanna held a 67-33 lead entering the final ten minutes of play.
  • Zoie Maffei started the scoring off early in the fourth quarter to push the lead to 36 points.
  • Maffei continued to dazzle drawing a foul as the layup she threw up swished through the net.
  • Kate Henn knocks down two free throws, pushing the SU lead to 47 points.
  • Cassie Doemling knocks down a tough lay up while drawing a foul to earn the free throw, resulting in the River Hawks jumping out to a 50 point lead.
  • Avery Nelson netted the final bucket of the game resulting in the River Hawks defeating the Warriors 90-40.
Inside the Box Score:
  • Carly George led the River Hawks in scoring with 14 points. George pulled down six rebounds during the contest.
  • Julia Roth and Annie Greek both scored 12 points for the River Hawks, with Sydney Weyant and Zoie Maffei netting nine points each.
  • Kate Henn scored her first career points in an SU jersey, finishing the game with five points.
  • Susquehanna shot a staggering 56.7% from the field, including a perfect 8-8 from the free throw line.
