DALLAS, Pa. — The Susquehanna University women's tennis team fell 5-2 to Misericordia University Saturday afternoon, opening its road match with a doubles victory before earning two wins in singles play.
How It Went Down
- Susquehanna opened the match by taking the No. 1 doubles contest, as Alexa Wanamaker and Mackenzie Romig earned a 6-4 victory over Samantha Wallitsch and Emily Holtzapple. Misericordia claimed the other two doubles matches to secure the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead.
- In singles play, Romig delivered a dominant performance at No. 2 singles, defeating Holtzapple 6-3, 6-0 to put the River Hawks on the board.
- Abigail Freeman added another point for Susquehanna at No. 4 singles, cruising to a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Emily Kemmerer.
- The Cougars secured the remaining four singles matches to close out the 5-2 team victory. Wanamaker pushed her No. 1 singles match to three sets after taking the opening set, while Katherine Yoder battled through a competitive first-set tiebreaker at No. 3 singles.
