SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — The Susquehanna University women's tennis team continued its strong start to the season Saturday afternoon, earning a 6-1 victory over Penn College at the Central PA Tennis Center. With the win, the River Hawks improved to 2-0 on the season.
How It Went Down
- Susquehanna claimed the doubles point by winning two of the three doubles matches. Katherine Yoder and Abigail Freeman picked up a 7-5 victory at No. 2 doubles, while Elizabeth Vitale and Rowan Butters secured the point with a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles.
- The River Hawks then carried that momentum into singles play, winning five of six matches.
- Alexa Wanamaker battled past Leah Vest at No. 1 singles, earning a 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) victory. Mackenzie Romig also rallied for a thrilling three-set win at No. 2, overcoming a first-set loss before taking the final two sets, including an 11-9 third-set tiebreaker.
- Abigail Freeman, Elizabeth Vitale and Rowan Butters each added straight-set victories at Nos. 4, 5 and 6 singles, respectively.
