SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — The Susquehanna University men's tennis team delivered a dominant performance Saturday afternoon, sweeping Penn College, 7-0, at the Central PA Tennis Center. With the victory, the River Hawks improved to 2-0 on the season.
How It Went Down
- Susquehanna opened the match by taking two of three doubles contests to claim the doubles point. Owen Miller and Daniel Murphy earned a 6-3 victory at No. 1 doubles, while Griffin Yereance and Max Persing cruised to a 6-1 win at No. 3.
- The River Hawks carried that momentum into singles play, sweeping all six matches. Miller and Murphy made quick work of their opponents at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, each earning straight-set victories.
- Dante Neely and Griffin Yereance both battled back after dropping the second set to win their matches in third-set tiebreakers. Nathan Hepner also rallied at No. 5 singles, overcoming a first-set loss before winning the next two sets, including an 11-8 tiebreaker. Max Persing completed the singles sweep with a 6-3, 7-6 victory at No. 6.
