WILLIAMSPORT, PA - Susquehanna rode an eight-goal first quarter to victory over Landmark-foe Lycoming College, winning 18-5. Following the massive first quarter, the Warriors scored twice in the second, but the River Hawks continued to pile on goals and cruised to a win.
Abby Andrus and
Abby DiComes led the scoring with seven and four goals, respectively.
HOW IT WENT DOWN.
- The River Hawks wasted no time getting on the board with a goal from the team's leading goal scorer Andrus off of a DiComes pass to put Susquehanna up 1-0 with 13:19 left in the first.
- Less than a minute later Sophia Trively quickly followed up with a goal assisted by Andrus to put the River Hawks up by two.
- Andrus kept her stick hot, scoring another goal with 12:07 left in the first to give them an early three goal lead.
- After a five minute scoring lull Andrus put another one in the back on the net, scoring her third goal of the game.
- DiComes scored her first goal of the game off of a Jessica Russo pass to make the score 5-0 with 6:31 left in the first.
- Trively tallied another goal off a free-position shot and DiComes scored off a Russo assist to give the River Hawks a seven goal lead.
- Andrus scored again with 0:57 left in the first to cap off an 8-0 run and end the first quarter.
- Lycoming started off the second quarter on attack and scored their first goal of the game off the stick of Riley Block with 14:20 left in the quarter.
- Susquehanna responded with a goal off the stick of Andrus, her fourth of the game.
- Block scored again for the Warriors to reset the deficit to seven goals.
- Makaela Larkin scored a free-position goal and Russo scored her first goal of the game with 11:28 left in the second to make the score 11-2.
- Sloan Coddington scored a man-up free-position goal with 6:27 left in the quarter to give the River Hawks a 10-goal lead and start the running clock.
- DiComes tacked on another goal and before Block scored her second of the game for Lycoming to end the quarter with the score 13-3.
- After a good defensive start to the half for both teams Larkin scored her second goal of the game to increase Susquehanna's lead to 11 with 5:05 left in the third.
- Trively and Andrus tallied on one goal each before the end of the quarter to make the score 16-3.
- Andrus opened up the quarter with another goal with 14:02 left in the fourth to increase the River Hawks lead to 14.
- DiComes scored her third goal of the game on a man-up opportunity to push the score to 18-3.
- Lycoming fought back and Block scored twice, ending the game with the score at 18-5.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Andrus dominated the Lycoming defense, scoring seven goals and assisting on one.
- DiComes tallied four goals and Trively had three. Both of them had two assists.
- Larkin
- , Coddington, and Russo also scored goals for the River Hawks. Russo also had six assists.
- Block led the Warriors offense, scoring all five of their goals.
- Susquehanna outshot Lycoming 33-14, along with 23 shots on goal to Lycoming's seven.
- Lycoming turned the ball over 24 times compared to Susquehanna's 17 turnovers.
- Kimberly Nagengast led the River Hawks in draw controls, with six of the total 14 they had. Julie Dammes had five of the eight Lycoming draw controls.
