CLERMONT, FL - Susquehanna softball earned a high-scoring win against the Saints of Emannuel (Mass.) before falling to the Bluffton Beavers. Susquehanna defeated the Saints 20-8, with SU dropping to Bluffton in another offensive game, 12-9.
Susquehanna 20-Emmanuel 8
- Emmanuel 2-Susquehanna 0- The Saints started the scoring early, earning two runs in the top half of the first inning. Saints Emily Rodriguez pushed in two runs in the first inning.
- Emmanuel 3-Susquehanna 7- The Saints continued to push their lead, taking a 3-0 lead in the top of the 2nd inning. The River Hawks responded by exploding on offense for seven runs in the bottom half of the frame. Julia LaRose singled, scoring Syndey Perez and Stevie Shaak for the opening two runs for SU. Alyssa Mayorca sent a single onto the field, scoring LaRose from second base. Susquehanna continued to put the pressure on when Brianna Jones singled, scoring Alyssa Mayorca. Elle Walasavage earned an RBI in the inning, scoring the speedy Jones. Walasavage came home after a ball slipped past the outstretched arm of the Saints catcher. SU's final run of the inning came when Graysen Trybulski touched home plate to give SU a 7-3 lead.
- Susquehanna 12-Emmanuel 3- Susquehanna continued to pour on the runs in the ensuing inning, notching in another five runs. Grace Landis stole home plate after a Mary Wilkinson walk. Elle Walasavage continued to send highlight reel hits onto the field, scoring an additional two runs for the River Hawks. Alyssa Mayorca and Riley Mullen both crossed home plate on the Walasavage hit. Brie Jones and Elle Walasavage both crossed home plate to give Susquehanna the 12-3 lead entering the fourth inning.
- Susquehanna 20-Emmanuel 8- The Saints aded five runs in the top half of the fourth inning, but SU stayed undeterred, tacking on an additional 8 runs to close the game out. Alyssa Mayorca singled, scoring Mary Wilkinson and Sydney Perez. Brianna Jones sent out a triple, scoring Mayorca and LaRose. Walasavage sent a SAC fly out to center field, scoring the speedy Jones from third base. Mya Morales put the nail in the coffin of the Saints, sending a ball out of the park, notching Susquehanna's final three runs of the contest.
Bluffton 12-Susquehanna 9
- Bluffton 3-Susquehanna 0- The Beavers struck first, scoring three runs in the bottom half of the first inning. The River Hawks responded in the third inning with two runs of their own.
- Bluffton 3-Susquehanna 2- Elle Walasavage doubled to right center, sending Brianna Jones home for the first run of the game for SU. Savannah Patrone sent a double to center field, scoring Walasavage from third base.
- Bluffton 5-Susquehanna 2- The Beavers tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a 5-2 lead into the fourth.
- Bluffton 11-Susquehanna 2- Bluffton continued to push their lead in the fourth inning, jumping ahead 11-2 on Susquehanna.
- Bluffton 11-Susquehanna 4- The River Hawks cut into the Bluffton lead in the fifth inning, scoring two runs in the frame. Mya Morales sent a sacrifice fly out to center field, scoring Katelyn Dugery. Mayorca sent a SAC fly to center field scoring Maddy Devine for SU's second run of the inning.
- Bluffton 12-Susquehanna 5- The River Hawks once more cut into the Bluffton lead in the sixth inning when Maddy Devine reached first base on a throwing error, scoring Savannah Patrone. The Beavers added one run in the bottom half of the frame.
- Bluffton 12-Susquehanna 9- The River Hawks had one last attempt to tie or take the lead in the seventh inning, coming up just three runs short of the Beavers. Grace Landis sent a triple out to right field, scoring Mayorca and Wilkinson. Savannah Patrone sent a SAC fly to left field to score Brie Jones from third. The Beavers held on to win the contest, 12-9.
