Susquehanna Splits on Final Day of Spring Break

CLERMONT, FL - Susquehanna wraps up spring break splitting against Wentworth and Brandeis. The River Hawks tamed the Leopards in game one of the day, before playing an eight inning thriller to round out their trip down in Central Florida.

Susquehanna 13-Wentworth 4:
  • Susquehanna's offense struck early and often against Wentworth, knocking in a run in the first inning of play. Maddy Devine took off or home plate following a Wentworth passed ball, scoring the first run of the contest.
  • The River Hawks opened the second inning with five runs, starting off with a Maddy Devine double to right field, scoring the speedy duo of Isabella Sulesky and Alyssa Mayorca
  • SU continued to pound the runs in, scoring an additional two when Stevie Shaak singled to right field, scoring Devine and Elle Walasavage
  • The River Hawks final run of the inning came off the bat of Sydney Perez, scoring Stevie Shaak.
  • Susquehanna added an additional two runs to the board in the third inning, when Alyssa Mayorca and Mary Wilkinson crossed home plate.
  • The Leopards added their four runs in the bottom of the third inning, coming up short on any additional opportunity to score.
  • Savannah Patrone started the fifth inning off with a single to right field, scoring Walasavage from third.
  • The final runs of the contest came with a special moment. Katelyn Dugery lined up at home plate with the bases loaded and sent a ball out of the park for the grand slam to take a 13-4 lead that would go final after just five innings.
Brandeis 8-Susquehanna 3:
  • Susquehanna struck first in the first inning, with a Katelyn Dugery single, scoring Stevie Shaak
  • Brandeis found some offense in the third inning, knocking in the tying run to knot the game up at 1-1.
  • Sydney Perez pushed in a run in the third inning with a single that scored Grace Landis.
  • The Judges continued to tie the game up in the fifth inning, knotting the contest back up at two.
  • Susquehanna and Brandeis went to extra innings, before the Judges were able to take their first lead of the contest in the eighth inning, 3-2.
  • Isabella Sulesky knotted the game back up at 3-3 in the bottom of the eighth with a dribbler that gave Graysen Trybulski enough time to reach home plate.
