From WNEP:

Just five golfers on the Susquehanna women's golf team this past season, but a mighty bunch still earning a second place finish at the Landmark Conference Championships. Freshman Cailyn Schall earned a Landmark Rookie of the Year, and one other golfer from the Coal Region has helped the team elevate their standards, already breaking school records. A batting swing turned golf swing, Kennedy Petrovich grew up in Shamokin playing softball and soccer. When the world shut down during the COVID-19 pandemic, those team sports weren't an option, so Kennedy and her grandfather picked up a golf club. She now holds Susquehanna's school record in scoring, a record she's broken three times. Kennedy shot a 70 under 2 at the Glenbrook Golf Club, breaking her previous school record of 71.

"I was playing the golf that I know I can play, and it's more of an expectation for myself. I know I can do it and I should do it, so it wasn't like I was really excited or anything. It was just, OK, I'm Kennedy today." - Kennedy Petrovich

"Kennedy and I played against each other in high school a little bit. Honestly, she's becoming a great player. Um, when I played with her in high school, she was just more new into it as she. Joined her freshman year, but she's really starting to get the hang of it, and it's really fun to be around her," - Cailyn Schall

Kennedy has won four tournaments in her two seasons on the team and shot a team best at the Landmark Conference championships over the weekend.

"Just the way that she's locked in even at practice for those two hours every day, the girls definitely feed off of that, and it's been an enormous help for everyone around to watch them being uplifted by the way that she carries herself and leads this team." - Aaron Ettinger

"She has the best mindset I've ever. a golfer have in my life. Like she never lets anything get to her, and I mean even if she does, she doesn't show it. Like it's just amazing. I -- learned so much from -- her." - Mylee Lorigan

"It was just kind of out of the blue. I played softball for so long. I was a soccer player too, and it was just something new and exciting. So me and my grandfather went out during COVID and played almost every single day. So I really liked it and it was just good memories too, and it has led me to here and I'm so thankful for it." - Kennedy Petrovich
