Four Make Softball All-Landmark

SELINSGROVE, PA - Four members of the Susquehanna University softball team were rewarded All-Landmark status for their breakout seasons that helped the River Hawks achieve the fourth seed for the Landmark Tournament. Susquehanna had one First Team recipient in catcher Maddy Devine, two Second Teamers in pitcher Brianna Jones and designated player Savannah Patrone, and an Honorable Mention in first base player Kately Dugery. 

Susquehanna clinched its 17th straight Landmark Tournament appearance thanks to winning eight Landmark regular season games. They head to Moravian for Friday's elimination game at 3 p.m. in the last of three games of the first day of the tournament. In an outstanding career, Jones amassed 300 career strikeouts and posted a season-high ten K's against Wilkes on May 2 to earn Landmark Pitcher of the Week. She is 7-3 on the season as of Thursday. It is her second All-Landmark selection. Patrone also earned her second All-Landmark honor after batting .325 with 25 hits, four doubles and five RBIs. Factored in also is her .369 on-base percentage, drawing six walks. For Dugery and Devine it is their first time earning All-Landmark dominating the first base line. For Dugery her skills at first base were on-point thanks to a .981 fielding percentage with 200 putouts and was just as effective at the plate with four home runs. Coupled with her eight doubles she collected 12 extra-base hits as she batted .317 with 33 hits and 21 RBIs, good for second on the team. She had a team-best .510 slugging percentage and a .351 on-base percentage with five walks. Among the full-stime starters Devine led the team with a .439 on-base percentage with 11 walks, while batting .342 with 36 hits and eight doubles for 11 RBIs. In the field she had a .963 fielding percentage with 100 putouts. 

The Landmark Conference Softball Tournaments takes complete shape Friday with three-seed Drew and two-seed Catholic at 11 a.m., followed by fifth-seed Wilkes and top-seed Moravian at 1 p.m. Susquehanna plays the loser of Drew and Catholic at 3 p.m. in the elimination game.
