Surtz, Drammeh Share Landmark Player of the Week Billing

SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Susquehanna University football continued its strong start to the 2026 season with a pair of individual performances recognized by the Landmark Conference on Monday, as running back Matt Surtz and defensive lineman Amarch Drammeh were named Landmark Conference Athletes of the Week following the River Hawks' 41-14 victory at Bridgewater on Saturday.

Surtz was named the Landmark Conference Offensive Athlete of the Week after turning in a dominant performance on the ground. The sophomore rushed 19 times for 159 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 8.4 yards per carry in Susquehanna's second straight victory to open the season. Surtz scored on runs of 47, three and three yards, accounting for 18 of the River Hawks' 41 points.

Surtz's 47-yard touchdown run came on Susquehanna's opening offensive play of the game, while his two short touchdown runs helped the River Hawks build a 21-0 advantage in the second quarter. His 159 rushing yards marked a game-high as Susquehanna finished with 255 rushing yards and 463 yards of total offense.

Drammeh earned Landmark Conference Defensive Athlete of the Week honors after spearheading a dominant defensive effort against the Eagles. The sophomore recorded six total tackles, including three tackles for loss totaling 18 yards, and added a 10-yard sack.

Drammeh was part of a Susquehanna defense that limited Bridgewater to just 180 yards of total offense, including 22 yards on the ground. The River Hawks registered five sacks for 44 yards and held the Eagles to just 1.0 yard per rushing attempt.

The River Hawks improved to 2-0 on the season with Saturday's victory and have outscored their first two opponents 64-31. Susquehanna returns to action Saturday, Sept. 19, when the River Hawks travel to take on Johns Hopkins at Homewood Field at 1 p.m. It'll mark their third meeting in two years, having meet during Week 3 last season and the NCAA Quarterfinals. The Blue Jays won both contests.
