ALLENTOWN, Pa. — The Susquehanna University women's soccer team picked up its fifth win of the season Wednesday night, earning a 1-0 shutout victory over Muhlenberg College at Jeff Morris '82 Field.
The River Hawks controlled much of the night offensively, finishing with a 19-8 advantage in shots and putting seven attempts on frame. Susquehanna's defense held Muhlenberg to just three shots on goal, while goalkeeper
Katie Henchy recorded three saves to preserve the shutout.
How It Went Down
- After a scoreless opening 29 minutes, Susquehanna broke through in the 30th minute. Ava Billmeyer converted a penalty kick at 29:42 to give the River Hawks a 1-0 lead. The goal was Billmeyer's second of the season.
- Susquehanna carried the one-goal advantage into halftime and continued to pressure the Mules throughout the second half. The River Hawks registered 11 shots after the break, including four on goal, but Muhlenberg goalkeeper Megan Stairs turned aside each attempt to keep the match within one.
- The Susquehanna defense held firm down the stretch, limiting Muhlenberg to five second-half shots and just one shot on goal. Henchy finished with three saves across 90 minutes for her shutout.
