Box Score SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Susquehanna University women's tennis team suffered a heartbreaking setback Saturday afternoon in the final match of the Fall 2019 schedule. Susquehanna (1-4) dropped a 5-4 decision to Misericordia University (4-3) as the Cougars clinched the match with a three-set triumph at No. 3 singles.

How It Happened
Doubles

• Susquehanna owned a 2-1 advantage following doubles action.
• The Cougars took an early 1-0 lead with an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles.
• Sophomores Ashlynn Searer (Hummelstown, Pa./Hershey) and Anna Ream (Lewistown, Pa./Mifflin County) picked up an 8-5 triumph at No. 1 doubles to even up the match.
• The River Hawks grabbed a one-point lead when juniors Nicole Brintzenhoff (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) and Kallie Honstine (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon) notched an 8-6 victory at third doubles.

 
Singles

• SU went up 3-1 following Searer's 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles.
• Misericordia responded by winning the next three singles matches to stake a 4-3 advantage.
• First-year Grace Tepes (Northampton, Pa./Northampton) then earned a 6-3, 7-5 victory at No. 6 singles to set up No. 3 singles as the decisive battle.
• Senior Amy Jennings (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) gritted out a 7-6 (4) triumph in the first set but Cassidy Breen responded with a 6-3 win in the second set. Breen then rolled to a 6-1 victory in the third for the individual and team wins.
