How It Happened
  • The team score was tied at 4-4 when Seibert and Bryce Kennedy split sets at No. 6 singles. Seibert claimed the first set, 6-4, before Kennedy answered with a 6-3 win in the second after winning the last three games. Kennedy then proceeded to win the first two games of the third set while dealing with a leg injury. The injury grew worse and Kennedy retired with Seibert holding a 5-2 lead in the third.

Doubles
  • Drew took an early 1-0 lead with an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles.
  • The River Hawks responded by winning the next two doubles matches.
  • Seibert and senior captain Ben Ornstein (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) evened up the team score with a hard-fought 8-6 victory at No. 2 doubles.
  • Then the tandem of senior Nicholas Meale (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) and freshman Emil Vyskocil (Cornwall-on-the-Hudson, N.Y./Cornwall) gave SU a 2-1 lead with their 8-7 (7-0) triumph at No. 3 doubles, stretching their impressive record to 16-0.

Singles
  • The Rangers then staked a 3-2 lead with straight-set victories at No. 1 and No. 3 singles.
  • Senior captain Alex Dove (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) knotted the match once again as Dove grinded out a 7-5, 3-6, 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles.
  • Drew went up 4-3 with another straight-set win at the fifth spot.
  • Senior Alex Cocolas (High Bridge, N.J./Voorhees) rallied from one set down to register a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles to set the stage for Seibert's triumphant win.
