Box Score 1 WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Sophomores
Ashlynn Searer (Hummelstown, Pa./Hershey) and
Haley White (Saylorsburg, Pa./Pleasant Valley) advanced to the final of the Doubles No. 1 flight at the King's (Pa.) College Invitational while five other Susquehanna University women's tennis players reached the semifinals of their respective flights.
How It Happened
Doubles
- Searer and White posted an 8-4 win over Misericordia's Hannah Bonk and Erika Slowicki in the quarterfinals before downing King's Emily Fernandez and Alexis Zalutko, 8-5 in the semis.
- The duo put in the grind in the final against Scranton's Nastashia DeNunzio and Marissa Campo but the Scranton tandem pulled out an 8-7 (1) triumph for the Doubles No. 1 title.
- Senior Amy Jennings (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) and sophomore Anna Ream (Lewistown, Pa./Mifflin County) earned an 8-2 victory over Cabrini's Miranda Smith and Zanaia Brown in the quarterfinals of the Doubles No. 2 flight before falling 8-0 to King's Diana Rodriguez and Mikayla Reynolds in the semifinals.
Singles
- Searer notched a 6-1, 6-1 win over Marywood's Danielle Ogonowski in the quarters of the Singles No. 1 flight before dropping a 6-0, 6-3 decision to King's Emily Fernandez in the semifinals.
- Jennings tallied a 1-1 record in Singles No. 2 play with a hard-fought 7-5, 2-6, 10-2 triumph over Marywood's Allison Bashore before coming up short in a 6-0, 6-2 loss to Arcadia's Alex Volkov.
- Junior Nicole Brintzenhoff (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) went 1-1 in the Singles No. 5 flight, registering a 6-1, 6-1 win over Cabrini's Fanta Bility and suffering a 6-1, 6-2 setback at the hands of Misericordia's Megan Rembish.
