SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Head Coach
Brad Posner announced Friday the hiring of
Brianna Burger as an assistant coach for the Susquehanna University softball program.
Burger comes to Susquehanna following a solid career with the Alderson Broaddus University softball program in Philippi, West Virginia.
"I'm very excited to welcome Coach Bri to the River Hawk coaching staff! After a great playing career, she is ready to make the transition and become a great coach. I look forward to her utilizing her drive, dedication, and knowledge of the game to become a real asset to the team,"
Posner said.
She was a four-year starter and three-year captain for the Battlers as a pitcher and first baseman. The Grand Prairie, Texas, native was hitting .364 before her fifth-year at Alderson Broaddus was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic. An elementary education major,
Burger was named to the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Academic All-Conference Team five times.
Burger has conducted private hitting and pitching lessons to girls ranging from 6-18 years old and has helped coach 8u, 10u, and 12u girls' softball teams for the past six years.
While pursuing her master's degree in education at Alderson Broaddus this past year, she was a substitute teacher for the Barbour County School District.
Burger graduated magna cum laude from Alderson Broaddus in 2019 with a bachelor's degree in elementary education and a minor in athletic coaching. She then completed a master's in education at AB in 2020.
