WILKES-BARRE, PA (October 3, 2021) -- The Susquehanna University men's tennis team finished up action at the 2021 King's College Invitational Sunday, putting three doubles teams into the finals of their respective flights before rain canceled nearly all of the conclusion of singles play in action from Kirby Park.
In No. 1 doubles action, Emily Vyskocil and
Conor Ryan moved into the finals with a semifinal victory over Joni Carasso and Zach Puccia of FDU-Florham 8-6. In the title match, the pair played well but couldn't overcome an early deficit in falling to Manhattanville's pairing of James Hourihan and Nick Schlapak 8-4.
The No. 2 pairs duo of
Joshua Sanderson and
John Duncan easily moved into the finals with an 8-2 win over JT Murray and Jacob Mostoller from FDU-Florham. The squad battled back from a 7-3 deficit to make it 7-6 but Ryan Rosenberg and Luis Gonzalez of Manhattanville outlasted the SU pair to take the No. 2 flight.
At No. 3 doubles,
Tim Basta and
Ethan Cooley bested Ryan Wolford and Jason Budrys of Scranton 8-1 to earn a spot in the finals. The title match though would go to Weston Goodwin and Dylan Crowley of Manhattanville 8-1.
Susquehanna had players in the semifinals in all but one of the singles flights, but the event was washed out with no singles titles being awarded.
