SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Susquehanna University men's outdoor track & field team celebrated their three seniors -
Leonard Bolinsky (Ashland, Pa./North Schuylkill),
Alejandro Gillespie (Morristown, N.J./Storm Ring), and
Lance Hofer (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) – and recorded a dozen first-place finishes at the River Hawk Classic Saturday afternoon.
Susquehanna went up against athletes from Juniata College and University of Scranton.
How It Happened
First-year
Joey Masser (Shamokin, Pa./Shamokin Area) continued his streak of strong performances with a first-place finish in the 100m in 11.19 while sophomore
Chance Singleton (Middle River, Md./New Town) came in second in 11.43 and junior
Jonathon White (Mohegan Lake, N.Y./Mohegan) was fifth in 11.92.
J. Masser also earned a first-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 6.89m, tying him for sixth all-time in SU program history, followed by first-year
Jackson Mabry (Orwigsburg, Pa./Blue Mountain) in second with a jump of 6.03m.
Mabry captured the triple jump with a mark of 12.87m while
Singleton took top honors in the 200m with a time of 22.98. First-year
Sal D'Adamo (Allentown, N.J./Allentown) followed
Singleton for second place in 23.71.
Gillespie, sophomore
Ian Dyson (Ridgefield, Conn./Ward Melville (N.Y.)),
J. Masser, and
Singleton joined together to take first in the 4x400m relay in 3:33.95 while first-year
Andrew Rooney (Locust Gap, Pa./Mount Carmel Area) picked up a first-place finish in the 400m in 52.24 followed by
Gillespie in second in 53.10 and
Dyson in third in 53.75.
Sophomore
Shane Urban (Victor, N.Y./Victor Central) won the 3000m steeple in 10:32.76 while first-year
Isaac Martin (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) finished second in 11:12.97. The foursome of sophomore
Isaiah Blatt (Shoemakersville, Pa./Hamburg Area),
White,
Mabry, and
D'Adamo captured the 4x100m relay in 44.19.
The River Hawks swept the hammer throw as junior
Anthony Taddeo (Hazlet, N.J./Raritan) won the event with a throw of 43.48m, which is 10th all-time at SU. First-year
Tyler Hauk (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) followed
Taddeo in second with 39.64m while junior
Sam Hebert (Rockport, Maine/Camden Hills Regional) was third (38.38m).
Blatt picked up another first-place finish in the pole vault with a height of 4.50m, which ranks fifth all-time in SU program history, while junior
Keefer Goodspeed (Watsontown, Pa./Warrior Run) took second with a mark of 4.10m.
Junior
Jack Warehime (Hanover, Pa./Spring Grove Area) crossed the finish line first in the 800m in 1:59.10 followed by sophomore
Jake Newell (Ventnor City, N.J./Parsippany Hills) in second in 2:08.63 and
Bolinsky in fourth in 2:13.87.
Hauk claimed first-place in the discus with a throw of 41.20 followed by first-year
Ryan MacDonald (Oradell, N.J./River Dell) in second with a mark of 35.34,
Taddeo in third (35.22) and junior
Curtis Anthony (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport) in fourth (34.34).
First-year
Blake Shellenberger (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) tallied a second-place finish in the 110m hurdles in 18.21 while
Newell paced the team in the high jump with a second-place finish with a height of 1.68m.
MacDonald came in second in the shot put with 11.64m while
Taddeo finished fourth with a mark of 11.13m and
Hauk was fifth with a throw of 9.82m.
Hebert led Susquehanna in the javelin with a third-place finish with a distance of 48.60m while
Anthony was fourth with a throw of 43.36m.
First-year
Tanner Allison (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore Area) notched a fourth-place finish in the 1500m in 4:23.22 to lead the River Hawks in the event.
