READING, PA (January 22, 2022) -- Junior
Isaiah Blatt earned the win in the pole vault, while teammate
Bryce Ellinger added a victory in the high jump, highlighting action for the Susquehanna University men's indoor track and field team at the Alvernia University Invitational Saturday inside the Tom and Helen Flynn PLEX.
Blatt was one of many field standouts for the River Hawks, as the junior cleared a height of 4.50 meters for a season-best. He was nearly a foot higher than the second-place finisher, while his 4.50 meter winning height was 0.25 higher than his previous season-high.
Senior
Keefer Goodspeed was also strong in the pole vault, as he finished fourth overall with a height of 4.10 meters. In the high jump, Ellinger chalked up a personal-high height for the victory, as he cleared a 2.00 meter height. He bested her previous personal-best of 1.94 meters.
In other action, SU had two finishers in the 5000 meters, as
Shane Urban was ninth with a time of 17:21.89 while teammate
Declan Griffin took 10th after running a time of 10:37.67. Sophomore Mathew Masser made the 60 meter hurdles finals with a 9.09, bettering that time in the finals to log a 9.07 for seventh place.
The 400 meter dash was a strong event for SU for the second straight week, as
Elliott Davis chalked up a season-best time of 51.36 to take second place. First-year
Brandon Zimmerman was right behind Davis in third place, running a time of 51.46. Zimmerman would also take part in the 200 meter dash, finishing fourth overall and winning his heat with a time of 23.16.
Junior
Ian Dyson was also seventh overall in the 200 meter dash, winning his heat with a time of 23.43.
In the long jump, sophomore Keith Green took home sixth place with a distance of 6.31 meters. while earning ninth place in the triple jump with a distance of 12.74 meters. Ben Bulger was 11th after leaping a distance of 11.99 meters.
