Women's Cross Country

Numerous Runners PR in Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM, PA (October 1, 2022) – The Susquehanna University cross country teams both competed in the prestigious Paul Short Run at Lehigh University on Saturday, with athletes from both the men's and women's teams competing in both the open and White races, with distances of 6k for the women and 8k for the men.

Kallan Carter, who also earned Landmark Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors for her performance, led the way for SU runners, taking a third place overall finish in the White race and posting a program record time of 21:47.9. The time is also the third best time in the history of the Landmark Conference. The next River Hawk to finish was sophomore Emma Myers, who placed 60th with a time of 23:41.1. First-year Griane Reed had a standout day, as they placed 73rd and ran a lifetime best time of 23:50.5. Jordan Bender finished 80th, running a 23:59.2. Sophomores Rebekah Jones and Sydney Mitros both ran lifetime bests on the day, with Jones in 93rd with a 24:11.5 and Mitros in 190th with a time of 25:41.7. Kylie Dixon, Grace Evans, Sophia Pasquariello, and Meghan McDonald rounded out the SU runners in the race in 203rd, 229th, 238th, and 276th respectively. The team combined for an excellent ninth place overall result among the 42 teams in the race.

Two runners ran in the Open race for the women, with first-year Katrina Hook clocking a lifetime-best 27:25.8, while sophomore Grace Farrer also ran a lifetime best with a time of 29:01.2.

The men were led by sophomore Terence Grenda, who ran a personal-best 26:47.7 and placed 87th. Senior Jack Warehime followed closely behind in 96th with a time of 26:57.3. Sophomore Josh Kimotho had an excellent day with another personal best time, smashing his previous by 38 seconds to run a 26:59.4 and place 103rd. Senior Shane Urban ran a 28:07. 3 to finish 186th. Declan Griffin added another personal-best time to the pile, finishing 195th with a time of 28:13.5. Following were Bradshaw Henning and Micah Zellers, who were 214th and 225th respectively at times of 28:35.0 and 28:53.0. Blandin Conklin had the final personal-best for the team, running a 29:05.8 and placing 237th. First-year Jess Carpenter rounded out the results in 304th. The team combined for 24th place amongst the 40 teams in the race.

Kareem Beck, Christian Calderaro, Santino Carapellucci, and Jonathan Witcoski all competed in the men's open race, with Beck running a 29:48.9, Carapellucci at 29:56.7, Calderaro at 30:50.9, and Witcoski at 32:05.3.
