NEW YORK, NY (December 3, 2022) -- Senior jumper Bryce Ellinger broke the school and Landmark Conference record Saturday in the 2022-23 season debut for the Susquehanna University track and field squads at the TCNJ Indoor Open at the Armory Track & Field Center. 

Ellinger posted a huge mark of 2.07 meters as he cleared the height on his first attempt after getting over 2.01 and 2.04 on his third and final attempts. The height bested his previous personal best of 2.06 meters, which was also the previous Landmark Conference top mark all-time. Ellinger's winning mark Saturday is now ranked No. 1 in Division III now. 

It wasn't the only school record on Saturday, as first-year Carter Smink started his career with a bang as he ran an 8.48 in the 60 meter hurdles. Smink ran a 8.63 in the prelims to get into the finals, following that up with a monster time to break the school record. The time is also 10th best in the nation. Sophomore Benjamin Bulger also made the finals in the 60 meter hurdles, crossing the link with a 8.76 for the fourth-best time all-time at SU.

In the 300 meter dash, Ian Dyson finished 21st overall with a time of 37.39 for the second-best time all-time at Susquehanna. First-year Alex Evitts was right behind him with a 39.22, the third-best time in the event ever for the River Hawks. 

In the 400 meter dash, Mathew Masser was 10th overall with a time of 54.95 and Blake Shellenberger took home 15th place after finishing in 56.85. First-year Miles Doll had a solid race in the 600 meter run, recording a time of 1:32.13 for the second-best time ever in program history. 

The 4x400 meter relay squad of Bulger, Doll, Joey Masser and Rowan Smith took seventh after running a 3:37.45. 

In addition to Ellinger, first-year Marcus Moyer had a solid performance in his first meet in the high jump. Moyer cleared 1.81 meters to finish fifth overall. Senior Isaiah Blatt had a strong afternoon in the pole vault, as she posted the nation's 15th best height with a fourth-place finish after clearing 4.40 meters. 

Sophomore Brandon Zimmerman was fourth in the long jump thanks to his mark of 6.70 meters, the 21st best distance thus far in Division III. Junior Jackson Mabry hopped into the Division III Top 50 in the triple jump, taking fourth place with a mark of 12.66 meters while Bulger was sixth with a 12.41 meter leap. 

First-year Cole Goodwin was a stand out in his first collegiate meet, taking fifth overall with a mark of 13.78 meters in the shot put. The toss was the 30th best mark in Division III so far this winter. Junior Tyler Hauk led the River Hawks in the weight throw, as he finished fourth in a strong field after recording a heave of 14.23 meters. Ryan MacDonald was eighth in the both the shot put and weight throw. 

The River Hawks will open their home slate next weekend, hosting the SU Early Season Invitational and Multi Meet in Selinsgrove, PA starting December 9 at 4 p.m.
