Joey Masser broke his own school record in the 60 meter hurdles, while first-year
Brandon Zimmerman finishes day one of the heptathlon as the leader as the Susquehanna University men's indoor track and field squad competed at the Bomber Multi & Invitational Saturday at Ithaca College.
Masser posted a school-record time of 8.53 in the prelims to qualify as the No. 4 seed heading to the finals, finishing the day with seventh place in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.58. Staying in the 60 meter hurdles, Ben Bulger took home 14th place in the event with a personal-best time of 9.28.
Senior
Keefer Goodspeed finished 10th in the pole vault, clearing heights of 3.95 and 4.10 meters before missing at 4.25 meters. In the long jump Masser finished fifth overall with a mark of 6.65, while
Josh Leininger posted a personal best mark of 5.98 meters. Leininger also placed 12th in the triple jump after a leap of 11.71 meters on his third and final attempt.
Ryan MacDonald led SU in the shot put with a mark of 11.88 meters, while
Tyler Hauk was 14th overall after posting a heave of 11.70 meters.
Alex Albrecht posted a personal best in the shot put after registering a 11.38 meter throw. The weight throw saw Hauk lead all River Hawks with a toss of 13.43, while MacDonald added a distance of 12.33 meters for 20th place.
In the heptathlon, Zimmerman finished the first day of action in the top spot, winning three of the four events. Zimmerman won the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.17 for 823 points, followed by another victory in the long jump with a mark of 6.92 meters for 795 points. The first-year continued his solid performances with another win in the high jump, clearing 1.71 meters. Zimmerman finished with 2,586 points.
Junior
Isaiah Blatt is fifth after the opening day of action in the heptathlon, accumulating 2278 points going into Sunday. Blatt was third in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.35, followed by a long jump mark of 6.13 meters for fourth-place. He finished fourth in the shot put (8.51 meters) and high jump (1.65 meters) to complete the day. Blatt is only seven points behind fourth place, and still within striking distance with his best event of pole vault slated for day two.

- Blatt and Zimmerman will conclude the heptathlon Sunday afternoon at the Bomber Invitational, but the rest of the squad will gear up for the Susquehanna Invitational next Saturday, February 12 at 10 a.m. in the Garrett Sports Complex.
