Brandon Zimmerman set a personal-best in the heptathlon with 4329 points Sunday to win the event, while junior
Isaiah Blatt finished second overall as well in the second day of action from Ithaca College's Bomber Multi & Invitational.
Zimmerman competed in the second multi event of his career this weekend, earning his first victory after finishing second at the SU Multi and Invitational back in January. Zimmerman posted the sixth-best point total in the region this season, while Blatt rallied from fifth place after Saturday's action to earn the runner-up spot with 4174 points.
Coming into Sunday's action, Zimmerman was in first place and continued his strong start with a first-place finish in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.79 seconds for 793 points. Blatt took home third place just behind Zimmerman with a time of 9.15 seconds for 713 points.
The pole vault was a big event for Blatt, as he earned 688 points with a mark of 4.25 meters to move into first-place overall just in front of his first-year teammate. Zimmerman came back to win the 1000 meters on the final event of the competition, running a 2:58.91 for 675 points to jump Blatt into first place for the victory. Blatt took fifth place in the 1000 meters, running a 3:18.42 for 495 points to fend off Connor Lambert from St. Lawrence University for the second spot.
