Men's Throwers Compete Friday In Opening Day of Jim Taylor Invitational

SELINSGROVE, PA (March 25, 2022) -- The Susquehanna University men's track and field throwing contingent competed Friday afternoon at SU's lone home outdoor meet of the season, participating in the shot put and hammer throw in the Jim Taylor Invitational in Doug Arthur Stadium. 

In the hammer throw, senior Anthony Taddeo recorded one mark but it was good enough to lead all Susquehanna throwers with a heave of 41.52 meters. Tyler Hauk was right behind Taddeo in 13th place, posting a distance of 39.86 on his opening attempt, while Samuel Hebert slotted in right behind him in 16th place with a mark of 39.11 meters. 

Senior Curtis Anthony posted a mark of 36.96 to place 22nd overall and sophomore teammate Ryan MacDonald recorded a distance of 36.80 on his second throw. Sophomore Logan Demay recorded a new personal-best distance though, as he threw the hammer 31.72 meters to best his old mark by nearly three meters. 

In the shot put, MacDonald would lead the way for SU by finishing 15th overall with a mark of 11.39 meters. Hauk logged an 11.36 distance throw on his first attempt to take 16th place, while Taddeo was 19th overall after booking a mark of 10.94m.

  • Susquehanna's entire men's squad will be in action Saturday for the full day at the Jim Taylor Invitational, as the River Hawks will celebrate Senior Day as well. SU will honor six men (Anthony, Keefer Goodspeed, John Sabella, Taddeo, Jon White, Hebert) for their hard work during the meet.
