SELINSGROVE, PA (March 26, 2022) -- The Susquehanna University men's outdoor track and field program honored its senior student-athletes Saturday afternoon at the 2022 Jim Taylor Invitational, and then had some strong performances on a cold, rainy afternoon from Amos Alonzo Stagg Field at Doug Arthur Stadium.
The River Hawks picked up one individual victory on Saturday, as junior
Bryce Ellinger won the high jump with a leap of 2.00 meters. The event was moved indoors due to high winds and rain during the day. In the 100 meter dash, junior
Ian Dyson was stellar he raced to the top seed in the preliminaries with a time of 11.05 seconds. He would improve on that time with a personal-best time of 11.01 in the finals, but was just nipped by Clayton Washington of Frostburg State and his 10.98. The time for Dyson was the 34th best time in the nation this year.
Dyson wasn't done though, as he posted a strong time of 22.80 in the 200 meter dash, taking third place overall behind a pair of Division II runners. In the 800 meter run,
Jack Warehime just missed his personal-best while finishing eighth overall with a time of 1:59.41, while
Bradshaw Henning was 14th with a time of 2:00.72.
Senior
John Sabella posted a new personal-best in the 10K run, as he raced to a fifth-place finish with a time of 33:08.06. A pair of first-year runners led the way in the 110 hurdles for Susquehanna, as Ben Bulder was 11th after clocking in with a 16.42 and teammate
Ezra Miller was right behind him in 12th place with a 16.44.
Miller would also take eighth in the 400 meter hurdles after crossing the finish line in 59.19.
In the pole vault, junior
Isaiah Blatt took fifth overall with a height of 4.40 meters, while also tossing the javelin to a new personal-best of 41.98 meters. Junior
Keith Green leaped to a mark of 12.84 meters for an eighth-place finish in the triple jump, while Bulger was 11th after recording a mark of 12.41 meters.
The men's discus saw
Tyler Hauk take fourth place, as he qualified for finals with a throw of 41.68 meters and then improved on that with a final toss mark of 41.89 meters. In the javelin,
Sam Hebert was 17th overall with a throw of 44.90 meters, while senior
Curtis Anthony posted a mark of 42.90 meters for 21st place.
Midway through the day, Susquehanna said thank you to its senior men's track and field and cross country athletes, as Sabella,
Anthony Taddeo, Jon White, Anthony,
Keefer Goodspeed and Hebert were all honored.
