Box Score WASHINGTON, DC (April 2, 2022) -- The Cardinals of Catholic University captured five of the first six matches to finish Saturday, clinching the 5-4 Landmark Conference win over the Susquehanna University women's tennis team.
Grace Tepes and
Haley White earned a win at No. 3 doubles, knocking off Aubree Narus and Josie Cost 8-4. Both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles decisions finished 8-5 in favor of the Cardinals, as the hosts took a 2-1 edge into single's play.
Olivia Sensenbrenner would top Anna Reem at No. 4 singles 6-2, 6-1 to extend CUA's edge to 3-1, followed by a 6-2, 6-3 win for Brooke Simonson over
Ashlynn Searer at No. 1 singles to push Catholic to within a win of the match victory. The clinching point for the hosts came at No. 2 singles, as Abigail Cassidy defeated
Julie Bramley 6-4, 7-7 (1).
Despite the loss as a team, Susquehanna finished strong by sweeping the No. 4 through No. 6 singles action. Tepes posted a 6-4, 0-6, 10-6 win over Marissa Stambaugh at No. 4 singles, followed by a 6-2, 6-1 straight set triumph by
Isabella Scappaticci. At No. 6 singles,
Kristen Bair chalked up a 6-2, 1-6, 10-8 win to finish the day's action.
