GETTYSBURG, PA (April 23, 2022) -- Junior
Bryce Ellinger set the school record in the high jump Saturday, highlighting a strong day of competition at the 2022 Mason-Dixon Invitational hosted by Gettysburg College.
Ellinger bested the mark of 2.05 meters, set by Chris Biever (1995, Dickinson Invitational), Adam Ressler (1998, Dickinson Invitational) and Mike Marr (2007, MAC Outdoor Championships). Her mark of 2.06 meters now ranks Ellinger fourth in the high jump on the current NCAA Division III performance list.
In other action starting first on the track, Susquehanna finished 2-3-4-5 in the 110 high hurdles, as Matthew Masser finished second overall with a personal-best time of 15.65 seconds. The time was a regional-qualifying time.
Benjamin Bulger took third place, and with it eight points, after running a 15.82. Junior
Isaiah Blatt was fourth after finishing with a 16.24, while first-year teammate
Ezra Miller also ran a 16.24 for fifth place. Sophomore
Blake Shellenberger ran a new personal-best of 17.14 for seventh place.
First-year
Joshua Kimotho posted a new personal-best time in the 1500 meter run, as he ran a 4:18.07 for 11th place. The River Hawks had a strong showing in the 400 meter dash, putting three runners in the top eighth.
Elliott Davis finished second overall with a time of 50.64, a new personal-best time, while first-year
Brandon Zimmerman ran a new PR of 52.09 for third place. Senior Jon White also scored as he took eighth in the 400 with a time of 52.68.
Junior
Jack Warehime took home third place after running a 1:57.16 in the 800 meter run, and junior classmate
Bradshaw Henning was right behind him in sixth place with a 1:59.57.
Kareem Beck recorded a new personal-best time of 2:00.48, taking eighth place.
Miller and Masser both scored in the 400 meter hurdles, as Miller ran a 59.05 for third place while Masser was fifth overall with a time of 1:00.33.
Joey Masser was fifth in the 200 meter dash after running a 22.94, while Zimmerman and White were seventh and eighth with times of 23.29 and 23.34, respectively.
The 4x400 meter relay was dominated by the River Hawks, as the three top spots were Susquehanna teams. The SU "B" team of Henning, Zimmerman, White and
Jake Newell finished with a 3:28.17, just edging the "A" team of Beck, Davis, Bulger and Blatt and its time of 3:28.58. The "C" squad of Kimotho, Miller, Masser and Masser was third, right behind the other team teams with a 3:28.91.
The field events saw Blatt and
Keefer Goodspeed go 1-2 in the pole vault, as both competitors finished at a height of 4.55 meters. Goodspeed's height was good enough for the sixth-best height in program history.
Sophomore
Tyler Hauk earned the win in the discus, as he finished with a personal-best distance of 43.80 meters. The throw was the third-best distance in program history. Hauk also earned sixth place in the shot put after recording a mark of 11.79 meters.
Junior
Keith Green earned first place in the long jump with a mark of 6.18 meters, and followed that up with a runner-up finish in the triple jump after posting a distance of 13.03 meters.
