GRANTHAM, PA (April 9, 2022) -- The Susquehanna University men's track and field team finished the third and final day of competition from the 2022 Messiah University Invitational Saturday.
Junior
Ian Dyson continued to lead the way for the River Hawks, as he posted a 10.92 in preliminaries to qualify for the finals in the 100 meter dash. Once in the finals, he ran a personal-best time of 10.90 for third place, the eighth-best time in program history.
Dyson came back in the 200 meter dash to run the fourth-best time in Susquehanna history, clocking a personal-best time of 22.11 to earn the victory in a field of 67 runners. In jumps,
Keith Green was another individual winner, as he chalked up a personal-best distance in the long jump of 6.86 meters. The mark was a personal best by 0.42 meters.
Green also won the triple jump on Saturday, as he finished with a mark of 13.36 meters, another personal-best mark for the junior. In the 400 meter dash,
Jake Newell posted a new personal-best time of 52.29 to finish ninth overall, and
Jack Warehime also established a new PR with a 53.05.
The 800 meter run saw
Bradshaw Henning and
Joshua Kimotho finish seventh and eighth respectively. Henning posted a time of 2:00.29 while Kimotho tallied a personal-best of 2:00.53.
Kareem Beck also registered a new PR with a 2:02.06 in the 800 meter run.
In the 3000 meter steeplechase, junior
Shane Urban led the way for the River Hawks with a 10:39.42. Senior
John Sabella was 10th in the 5000 meter run, recording a new PR of 16:00.74, and TJ Grenda was 15th after crossing the line in 16:21.81.
First-year
Benjamin Bulger qualified for the finals in the 110 hurdles, as he ran a 16.02 in the preliminaries. In the finals, Bulger finished fifth with a new personal-best time of 15.62. Sophomore Matthew Masser was eighth in the 400 meter hurdles, posting a 59.85.
The 4x400 meter relay of Warehime, Kimotho, Henning and
Tanner Allison was fifth in the event after running a 3:32.86.
In the high jump,
Sam Hebert took sixth place after clearing a mark of 1.82 meters on his second attempt at the height. The pole vault saw
Keefer Goodspeed take on second place after clearing 4.35 meters.
First-year
Josh Leininger was eighth in the long jump after leaping to a personal-best mark of 6.15 meters. Bulger was eighth in the triple jump after leaping to a 12.57 meters. In the shot put, Ryan MacDonald took home 11th place with a distance of 12.05 meters and Tyler Hawk was 14th overall after a 11.61 meter toss.
Hauk was ninth in the hammer throw after a 39.94 meter heave, and senior
Anthony Taddeo was 11th with a toss of 38.56 meters.
Team scores were kept for the event, and the Susquehanna men finished third of 23 teams with 70.5 points, trailing just host Messiah University and Lebanon Valley in the standings.
