Men's Track Ends Action At AARTFC Championships Thursday

BETHLEHEM, PA (May 19, 2022) -- The Susquehanna University men's track and field squad finished action at the 2022 All-Atlantic Regional Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Championships at Moravian University Thursday, finishing 15th as a team out over 50 teams.

The highlight of the day was Bryce Ellinger, who finished second overall in the high jump with a final mark of 1.97 meters. Ellinger passed on the first two heights, but then cleared 1.92 meters on his second attempt. He would fly over 1.97 meters on his first attempt, but couldn't get over 2.02 meters to end his afternoon.

It looks good for Ellinger to compete at the 2022 NCAA Championships, as he currently sits tied for fifth in the country in the high jump with a height of 2.06 meters.

The River Hawks finished eighth to pick up one point in the 4x100 meter relay, as Jonathan White, Isaiah Blatt, Ian Dyson and Brandon Zimmerman ran to a 42.45. The time was just 0.03 seconds over the season-best time of 42.42.

Junior Jack Warehime ran a 4:06.20 in the 1500 meter run to earn 25th place overall. The 400 meter hurdles had a quartet of runners, as Benjamin Bulger had SU's top time with a personal-best time of 56.22 for 21st place. Zimmerman posted a 57.05 for 23rd place, and Matthew Masser logged a time of 58.07. First-year Ezra Miller crossed the line in 58.51.

In the 200 meter dash, Dyson took home 16th place with a time of 22.28. The 4x800 meter relay squad had a strong outing, taking home four points as Joshua Kimotho, Bradshaw Henning, Kareem Beck and Warehime ran a season-best time of 7:56.70. The time was the second-best in program history, just missing the school record of 7:55.54 set back in 1985.

In field events, Zimmerman finished 18th after leaping to a mark of 6.51 meters. He started his flight with a distance of 6.43, before his top distance on his second attempt. On his third chance, he just missed his top mark as he recorded a 6.50 meter leap.
