Masser Claims Second in Heptathlon to Lead SU Finishers On Day 2 at Ithaca

ITHACA, NY (February 5, 2023) – The Susquehanna men's track and field team finished their second day at the Bomber Invitational on Sunday, with four River Hawks competing in the Heptathlon.

Joey Masser took the top finish for SU by claiming second place overall, tallying 4,635 points across the seven events. He took first place in the 60m run and long jump, while claiming second in the 60m hurdles with a school record time of 8.39 seconds.

Ben Bulger finished in ninth place with 4,175 points, with his best individual event finish being a fourth place in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.89 seconds. He would also claim sixth in the 60m run with a time of 7.36 seconds, and a pair of seventh place finishes with a 6.30m distance in the long jump and 1.73m in the high jump.

Rowan Smith finished 14th overall, snagging sixth place in the 60m hurdles at 8.93 seconds and seventh in the high jump at 1.73m. He also finished in eighth in the 1000m, clocking in at 3:02.84.

Ethan Roe rounded out the River Hawk finishers in 16th place, his best event being a 12th place in the 60m with a time of 7.57 seconds.

The team will now return home to prepare for the upcoming River Hawk Friday Night Showdown here at SU, beginning at 4:00 pm on Friday, February 10.
