Box Score 1 NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (March 12, 2023) – The Susquehanna University softball team opened their spring break trip in North Myrtle Beach against Worcester State and Suffolk. The River Hawks were undone by a trio of big innings from the Lancers in the opening game, while a high-scoring contest in the latter against Suffolk was washed away when heavy rainfall in the bottom of the fourth called off the contest.

The River Hawks fell behind early when the Lancers posted a three-run second and four-run fourth, with an
Ashley Warner solo shot in the second and
Erin Bean RBI single in the third accounting for SU's two early runs. Trailing 8-2 after five,
Lexi Palumbo gave SU a boost with a three-run homer to cut the lead in half, followed by an RBI single from
Hailey Kaba to make it 8-6. Worcester State, however, had one more big inning left in them, delivering four more runs in the bottom of the sixth, with a pair of RBI singles bookended around a two-RBI triple. Susquehanna mounted a rally attempt in the seventh with three runs on a Palumbo RBI single and a two-RBI single from
Morgan Henry, but proved too late.
Hanna Faust started the contest, giving up six runs (four earned) on nine hits with two strikeouts before
Ashley Grudzien stepped in during the bottom of the fourth, allowing four runs (two earned) on seven hits over 2.2 innings of work.
Amanda Amerman came in to get the final out in the sixth, allowing two runs on three hits.
Palumbo totaled four RBIs in a 2-for-4 day with one home run and one single, while coming across to score runs.
Morgan Henry posted two RBIs on a 2-for-4 afternoon with a pair of singles. Warner also batted 2-for-4 with one homer and one RBI.
