CHESTER, PA (April 1, 2023) – Susquehanna men's track & field's two-day stay at the Danny Curran Invitational at Widener University produced many personal bests and new AARTFC qualifications.
Thrower
Tyler Hauk got a AARTFC qualifier in the discus, finishing seventh in Friday's event at 43.51m. The threesome of
Carter Smink (15.63), Mathew Masser (15.65), and Ben Bulger (15.78) all qualified in the 110-meter hurdles, placing eighth, ninth, and tenth, respectively. Bulger also landed a AARTFC qualifier and personal best in the 400-meter hurdles with his time of 55.01 that now stands as the eighth-best time in school annals, with Masser earning another qualifier in the same event at 56.62.
Elliott Davis qualified in the 400 meters with a new PR time of 48.90 for the sixth best time in school history and placing third at the meet. The 4x100 team of
Ian Dyson,
Brandon Zimmerman,
Isaiah Blatt, and
Austin Hurrell qualified with their time of 42.81.
Davis also set a PR in the 200 meters, clocking in at 22.23 for the eighth-best time in school history. TJ Grenda set new personal bests with his 4:11.86 finish in the 1500 meters and 2:02.65 in the 800, as
Declan Griffin set a PR in the 800 with his time of 2:11.95. Both also set PRs in the 800, with Grenda clocking in at 2:02.65 and Griffin 2:11.95.
Blake Shellenberger's 16.73 time in the 110-meter hurdles set a new personal best, while
Bradshaw Henning (51.80) and Josh Kimoto (53.92) reached personal bests in the 400 meters, with Henning taking three seconds off his best time.
Isaiah Blatt, who already qualified last week for the AARTFC Championships in the pole vault, finished higher this weekend with a second-place finish of 4.55m.
Susquehanna will host their own Multi and Invite this week, starting with the two-day multi Thursday and Friday and the invitational Saturday.
