WEST CHESTER, PA (April 15, 2023) – Lightning struck both literally and figuratively for the Susquehanna University men's track & field team Saturday at West Chester's Bill Butler Invitational. In a flash, the River Hawks delivered 98 points to win the meet, posting five victories in the field of NCAA Division II and III competition before the meet was pre-empted due to lightning.
Elliott Davis won the 400 with a time of 48.28, which is third all-time.
Joey Masser won the hurdles with a time of 14.82 for fifth all-time.
Isaiah Blatt took first in the pole vault with a new PR of 4.85m, while clocking in a time of 11.28 to place sixth in the 100 meters.
Austin Hurrell finished seventh in the 100 with a new PR of 11.29, as
Carter Smink's third-place time of 15.14 in the 110-meter hurdles earned him the sixth-best time in school history. The 4x100 relay team of
Ian Dyson, Blatt,
Benjamin Bulger and Davis placed first with a season-best time of 42.69.
Over in the field,
Tyler Hauk won the discus when his first release landed at 42.01m before the meet was called, as
Cole Goodwin finished seventh at 37.54m.
Bryce Ellinger placed second in the high jump, clearing 2.00m, while
Marcus Moyer took fourth at 1.90m.
Tim Kizis finished third in the javelin with a measurement of 43.45m, while Ryan McDonald placed eighth in the shot put at 12.42m.
The River Hawks are not done yet this weekend, as a handful of members made the trip to Bucknell University for the Bison Invitational. The 4x800 team of
Bradshaw Henning, TJ Grenda, Josh Kimotho,
Kareem Beck will run Sunday evening.
