Box Score HUNTINGDON, PA (April 19, 2023) – The Susquehanna men's tennis team picked up their sixth win of the season and second Landmark victory as they visited Juniata College on Wednesday afternoon and claimed a 5-4 win.
The River Hawks got off to a strong start, winning two of the three doubles matches. Kyle Wagner and Brendan Stockdale were victorious 8-3 at #3 doubles, while the pair of Joshua Sanderson and Conor Ryan fell at #1 doubles. But SU got back in the lead with an 8-6 win at #2 doubles from the pair of Alex Baker and Carson Barry.
In singles play, Juniata tied it back up at #1 singles with Sanderson falling 6-4, 6-2, and then took the lead with a win at #2 singles as Baker went down 6-2, 6-1. But SU stormed back, first with Tommy Callahan winning 6-4, 6-3 at #3 singles to tie the match up at 3-3, and then Wagner finished a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at #4 singles to reclaim the lead for the team, With the score 4-3, SU clinched as Gavin Ream was victorious 6-4, 6-2 at #5 singles, claiming that all-important fifth point. Barry fell 6-1, 6-3 at the #6 spot, but it was too little, too late for the hosting Eagles, and Susquehanna claimed the match win.
The team will conclude the regular season on the road again, traveling to face King's College (PA) on Sunday, April 23 at 1 pm for non-conference action.
