LOCK HAVEN, PA (November 16, 2024) – Seven of Susquehanan's finest women's cross country runners traveled back to Lock Haven f to compete in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships. These included the ranks of senior
Rebekah Jones,
Sophia Pasquariello,
Jordan Bender and
Sydney Mitros, along with sophomores
Sophia Bostwick and
Alison Sponseller and first-year
Ava Warner.
Jones used the occasion to lock in a new PR of 23:34.1 to lead the River Hawks, earning 73rd place. Her splits consisted of 6:08.9 starting at 1.6k, then was reduced to 5:37.4 at 2.9k. At 3.5k her split was 2:14.6, then 5:19.0 at 4.9k. Finally, her last split at 6K dropped to 4:14.2. Bostwick raced to a time of 23:46.9, earning 79th in the field. Pasquariello ran her season best with a time of 24:09.9 with 93rd place. Starting off her split breakdown, Pasquariello was at 6:11.0 at 1.6k, then at 5:42.9 at 2.9k. When she reached 3.5k her split came out to 2:16.7 then 5:31.9 at 4.9k. She then crossed the line with 4:27.4 as her final split.
Sponseller grabbed the team's next finish, crossing the line at 24:35.4 for 106th place. Warner PR'd with a time of 24:51.7 for 112th. Starting off with 6:20.2 at 1.6K, Warner cut her split down to 5:51 at the 2.9K mark. At 3.5K she split a 2:21.0, then a 5:44.0 at 4.9K, ending off with 4:34.6 at the finish line. Bender completed her race with a 24:53.0 with for 114th and Mitros a 25:16.3 time for 130th.
The River Hawks finished in 16th overall out of the 30 teams that competed, earning 458 points. Johns Hopkins captured first on the team leaderboard with 34 points, a staggering 42 points ahead of second-place Carnegie Mellon with 76 points.
