NEWVILLE, Pa. – The Susquehanna University women's cross country team split its squad across the 4K and 6K races Saturday morning at Dickinson College's Long-Short Invitational, held on the rolling hills of Big Spring High School. The River Hawks faced a deep field featuring Landmark rivals and strong regional competition, using the event as a mid-season benchmark.
In the 6K,
Sophia Bostwick (Jr.) led the way for Susquehanna with a strong 24:17.2 performance, placing 16th overall.
Jess Askins (Fr.) made her collegiate 6K debut in 26:02.5, while
Kylie Dixon (Sr.) rounded out the group in 27:04.7.
In the 4K race, the River Hawks formed a strong pack, with
Ayla Kerwan (Jr.) and
Julianna Sobocinski (So.) finishing just five seconds apart at 16:40.8 and 16:45.5.
Aubrie Berwager,
Katie Wojton, and
Riley Schlosser followed close behind in a 21-second spread, giving the River Hawks a tight middle group that showed depth.
While splitting the squad kept Susquehanna from factoring into the team standings, the meet provided valuable racing experience against a talented field and marked important first 6K efforts for the younger runners.
