Women's Soccer Collects Key Landmark Win at Drew

MADISON, NJ - Two first-half goals from Susquehanna women's soccer brought them a first Landmark Conference win on Saturday at Drew, which brought them three points and three places in the table as they moved up to sixth.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • No shots were taken by either side in the first ten minutes as Drew had the first opportunity in the 11th minute, but that effort was blocked.
  • Susquehanna scored with their first shot in the 15th minute, as a clearance by the Rangers only came as far as Morgan Stickley, who played in Sydney Williams, who picked out the bottom right corner with her first touch to give the River Hawks an advantage.
  • Drew got forward not long after going behind, with Nicole Freiler making a sliding clearance and goalkeeper Katie Henchy being called upon to make a diving save from Drew's first shot on target.
  • Susquehanna had a chance to double their tally in the 30th minute, with a free-kick from Hannah Parslow headed wide by Gigi Duncan.
  • Parslow delivered a corner minutes later towards Duncan, who was denied by a save from Drew goalkeeper Sarah Crowley, and after an initial clearance, Parslow's second cross was turned behind for another corner, and the next delivery by Parslow led to a loose ball in front of goal that was volleyed in by Amelia Kopp to double the River Hawks' advantage.
  • Kopp had her sights set on a second after Emma Eberle won possession in midfield, before finding Kopp with a through ball, but her effort was kept out by Crowley.
  • Drew searched for a way back into the game, but the Susquehanna defense kept them at bay, with the Rangers only managing four shots after the hour mark.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Susquehanna was outshot, 12-8, but made the most of their early opportunities, going 2-0 up after 32 minutes and holding the hosts off to claim the three points. Susquehanna took four shots in each half, and found the target with six to Drew's four. Henchy made four saves, while Duncan and Kopp were the two Susquehanna players to take multiple shots, with three and two respectively.
  • The River Hawks won three corners to Drew's two, and scored through a first-half one via Kopp. Susquehanna committed eight fouls over the 90 minutes, while winning ten.
  • Williams scored her seventh goal of the season, and ninth of her career, which makes her the highest-scoring current player, while Stickley's assist was her third of the year, with this being the second time she has assisted Williams in 2025. Kopp scored her first of the campaign after managing three in 2024, while Parslow's assist was the fourth of her career, with two in each of her two seasons thus far.
UP NEXT FOR SU
  • Susquehanna moves to 6-7-1 on the year, 1-2-1 in Landmark play, which is good enough for sixth after four rounds of conference action. Their road trip lasts one further game as they travel to Juniata on Tuesday, before Moravian and Catholic come to Selinsgrove for the following two.
