SELINSGROVE, PA - Women's basketball earned the third spot in the Landmark Conference Preseason Poll, the highest preseason rankings in head coach
Gabby Holko's tenure. After wrapping up the 2024-25 season with a 15-11 overall record, and a 12-6 conference record, the River Hawks look to bounce back to the Landmark Conference Playoffs this season after entering last season as the number four seeded team. Showcasing an impressive record against Conference opponents, SU welcomes new and returning players to the court beginning on November 8, at the annual Susquehanna Tip Off Tournament.
Head coach
Gabby Holko returns for her 6th season at the helm for the women's basketball team, helping the River Hawks advance to the Conference playoffs the last two seasons. Boasting a 70-57 overall record, and a 40-38 conference record, Holko looks to maintain the successful culture that has been built at SU. Under the supervision of Holko, the River Hawks have earned two post season appearances in a very competitive conference, including a semifinals appearance at Catholic in the 2023-24 season. Holko leads her team into a conference match up against the University of Scranton on January 11, with the game being played at the Palestra.
Susquehanna returns big playmakers to the court, in the likes of senior forward
Carly George and
Julia Roth. Both players return to SU for their senior seasons in the orange and maroon. George looks to cement her name in the record books, as she nears 500 career points, starting the season with 447 career points. George led a stellar 2024-25 campaign setting career numbers in points scored, rebounds, and blocks. Returning from injury,
Julia Roth looks to pick up right where she left off after an early exit in 2024-25. In one game that Roth was available, she netted 26 points for the River Hawks, after a stellar 2023-24 campaign that saw the forward score 403 points, and snagging 242 rebounds.
Players such as
Julia Pinckert,
Sydney Weyant,
Annie Greek, and
Zoie Maffei look to continue their dazzling play from last season. Late last season, Pinckert set the school record for assists in one game, assisting with 12 baskets against conference foe, Wilkes University. Weyant looks to take on a bigger role this season, alongside
Annie Greek and
Zoie Maffei, with all three players being key cornerstones for the River Hawks in the 2024-25 season.
Susquehanna welcomes name players to the court, in the likes of first-year guard
Renee Wells,
Delaney Chilcote, and
Avery Nelson. All three players look to partake in a key role with the River Hawks, as they join the collegiate ranks for the first time in their young careers.
Heading into the 2025-26 campaign with nothing short of high aspirations, the River Hawks aim to improve their seeding in the Landmark Conference Playoffs, aiming to maintain a top spot in the conference at the end of the season. With hopes of claiming the coveted Landmark Trophy, Susquehanna looks ahead to a season filled with very competitive match ups.
